ABA HISTORY / ARCHIVES COMMITTEE The objectives of the History/Archives Committee are to: 1. Perpetuate the written and oral history of the ABA. 2. Preserve, file, and inventory historical documents housed at Atlanta Archives. 3. Assist with the preparation of any document highlighting the history of the ABA. 4. Provide ABA Units, Clubs, and Sections with requested historical information. 5. Share information about preservation and display techniques with ABA Clubs, Units, and Sections. 6. Cooperate with the Schomburg Center which officially houses ABA memorabilia. To foster the above objectives the History/Archives Committee has: 1. Urged all members to submit to Atlanta Archives a photograph and information that includes military experience and other achievements within and outside of the ABA. 2. Created a file of members for whom information is available. 3. Completed ABA historical research requested by private persons and members of ABA Committees. In the future, the History/Archives Committee Plans to: Make available to the ABA Website pages from the Archival Inventory, lists of yearly donors, and other pertinent information. Recommendations: Members are asked to inform their families that upon their demise, Bulletins, Souvenir Journals, photographs, scrapbooks, and other designated ABA memorabilia be forwarded to Archives at National Headquarters. Such memorabilia will be received, In Memoriam, by the History/Archives Committee.
